The world’s biggest singing competition and Australia’s #1 entertainment program of 2021, The Voice, is returning to Channel 7 and 7plus.
The newest season kicks off 7.00pm Monday, 18 April, with coaches Keith Urban, Rita Ora, Guy Sebastian and Jessica Mauboy reclaiming their iconic spinning red chairs.
Hosted by Sonia Kruger, The Voice 2022 will see 60 aspiring artists step onto the coveted The Voice stage, with the addition of the world-first, game-changing Battle Pass, allowing coaches to fast-track artists straight through to the hotly contested Battle Rounds.
Urban said, “What gets me the most is when I feel something; when there’s a truth in their voice that speaks to me beyond the sound of just their vocal and I’m able to feel it deeply.”
Another new addition to this season is The Callbacks, a tough new round for the coaches as they decide who they will take through to the next round from their chosen 12 artists.
Returning to heat up the competition between the coaches is everyone’s favourite, all-time leveller, The Block. Each coach has the ultimate power to block a rival coach from getting an artist they turned a chair for.
Last year’s winning coach, Guy Sebastian, is searching for that one-in-a-million voice. “Special voices are rare, and it is worth fighting for as a coach when you hear it,” he said.
Mauboy said she is listening to tone and connection with the song when an artist steps on The Voice stage.
“I want them to make me jump out of my chair and turn it to learn more about them as an artist.”
The Grand Final will see the top-four artists take to the stage with their coach for a show-stopping duet. At the end of the Grand Final, Australia will decide which of the four finalists will be crowned The Voice of 2022.
The Voice is an ITV Studios Australia production for the Seven Network.
The Voice premieres 7.00pm Monday, 18 April on Channel 7 and 7plus Continues 7.30pm Tuesday and Wednesday.
