EON Broadcasting has appointed Cherie Romaro as general manager for Sydney’s 2CH and its digital stations.
EON Broadcasting CEO John Williams said: “Cherie comes to us with a very impressive media track record both in Australia and internationally. Her previous experience includes senior management, programming and marketing roles with Arena and Weather Channel, 2MMMFM, 2DAYFM, NRJ Paris France and MIX 106.5 Sydney. She was also national program director for the Australian Radio Network’s Gold and Mix formats and ARN group general manager marketing promotions, research and news.”
On her appointment, Romaro said, “I am looking forward to leading the team at 2CH, working closely with them to build on their past work and create a great radio station, specifically targeted to Sydney’s ‘baby boomer’ listeners.
“In the past, music formats on AM have been challenging. However, with the introduction of DAB+ it provides 2CH with an opportunity to evolve its current format to further appeal and attract new listeners and advertisers to 2CH, 1170 on AM and DAB+. This was an opportunity to return to radio in Australia and a challenge I really wanted. It will be a privilege to work with such an iconic radio brand.”
