Seven continues to pull big audiences for its Rio Olympics coverage with over 1m watching until 10.30pm despite little live sport. Seven’s primary share was 28.6% and when you add the shares of 7mate and 7TWO, both over 4%, plus 7flix’s non-Olympic contribution of 1.5%, the total is 39.1%.
If you add in the digital audience the numbers really take off. The digital numbers for Day 3 released this morning set a new record with 3.1m August 8 streams, 75% of them watching live content.
Seven’s Olympic audience tuned in early yesterday with Sunrise reporting an average audience of 378,000 which had news of Australia’s third gold medal win. That audience was well up on its week 32 average of 299,000.
In primetime Seven averaged 1.26m from 7pm until 9pm and then 1.02m until 10.30pm.
The averages between 9am and 5pm were 647,000 and then 599,000.
The Chase is the only hour of non-Olympic content and it had audiences of 654,000 and then 830,000.
