Cheeky Little Media has officially kicked off production on seasons 4 and 5 of its hit preschool series, Ginger & the Vegesaurs. Since debuting on ABC Kids in 2022, the show has gone from strength to strength, consistently ranking as ABC Kids’ second most-watched commissioned series, just behind Bluey.
Created by Gary Eck and Nick O’Sullivan, the series – known internationally as Vegesaurs – is now available in 70+ territories, with further global expansion expected this year. Following its 48 million views on BBC’s iPlayer, the BBC has joined ABC as a co-commissioning partner for the upcoming seasons. Studio 100 remains involved in production financing and continues to serve as the global distributor and licensing agent outside Australia, with Cheeky Little Commercial managing the brand in ANZ.
ABC acting head of children and family, Mary–Ellen Mullane said: “We can’t wait to see more Ginger &
the Vegesaurs on ABC Kids. This beautifully created series is already much loved by Australian children everywhere. Here’s to more gorgeous Vegesaur Valley adventures!”

Ginger & the Vegesaurs has been given the greenlight for seasons 4 and 5.
The Australian Children’s Television Foundation has also provided funding, and special recognition goes to Claire Heinrich at France TV, who saw early potential in the series, pre-buying the first two seasons and later acquiring the third.
The Vegesaurs brand continues to expand, recently securing a global toy deal with Epic Story and publishing agreements with Pan Macmillan. Supermarket chain Lidl partnered with Vegesaurs in Austria, Denmark, and Spain in 2023 for a loyalty campaign that won ‘Best Licensed Promotion/Loyalty Campaign’ at the Bologna Licensing Awards 2024. Studio 100 International is building out a global licensing program to further extend the brand’s reach.
Additionally, Cheeky Little launched a big-screen immersive experience at Sydney’s Luna Park in January, with more venues across Australia and worldwide expected later this year.
Kate Morton, senior head of commissioning 0–6 for BBC children’s and education said: “CBeebies is a
place where little ones can be inspired and entertained, and where parents can trust that content is
both enriching and made specifically for young audiences.
The return of Vegesaurs for two more series means more of this for families and of course it is jam packed with fun and adventures from Ginger the Tricarrotops and her friends.”
Meanwhile, Martin Krieger, CEO of Studio 100 International said: “Vegesaurs’ continues to win over young
audiences everywhere, and we’re committed to driving its success as we embark on seasons 4 and 5.
With strong partners and growing global appeal, the brand is well on its way to becoming the next international preschool hit.”
