Regional radio ratings have kicked off for 2022 with the results for Karratha being released by Commercial Radio Australia for the first time. Karratha, based in the Pilbara region of WA, has a population of just 16,800 people aged 10+, and has never been surveyed before.
There are six stations operating in the area, and only two of them are commercial. Both of the commercial stations are owned by SCA.
Hit FM Karratha came in with the biggest overall share of 36.3% and a cume of 9100, while Triple M Karratha came in second with 25.0% and a cume of 7000.
Of the ABC stations that make up the rest of the survey, triple j has a solid lead with a 10+ share of 16.5%, followed by ABC Pilbara (9.1%), ABC RN (2.1%), and ABC Newsradio (1.9%).
The breakfast shows follow a similar pattern. Most listened to is Hit FM Karratha which airs the station’s state-wide regional breakfast show, Hit Breakfast with Allan & Carly. Carly Portch joined Allan Aldworth at the beginning of the year after Michelle Anderson moved to Triple M Perth’s Rush Hour Drive.
Speaking of Triple M, Pablo for Breakfast on Triple M Karratha has come in with a 24.8% share lead by Pablo Miller.
ABC’s triple j comes in third with 17.0%. The station’s national breakfast show, Bryce & Ebony, is helmed by Bryce Mills and Ebony Boadu.
At the other end of the day, Hit FM Karratha holds a 34.5% drive share, followed by Triple M Karratha with 22.1%, and triple j with 19.8%.
