• Superstar hosts missing on year’s penultimate survey day
• But AJ and K&J keep 2GB and KIIS #1 in breakfast
• smoothfm new #1 FM station as WSFM ratings tumble
• Ratings up at 2Day and at Triple M Grill Team breakfast
• Drive: Will & Woody surge – but Kate, Tim & Marty still #1
A small correction means nothing in the long history of market domination for the station. The station’s major challenge at the moment is the return of Alan Jones, who is back in hospital with a bad back. All dayparts dipped except evening where Steve Price and Ross Greenwood lifted share 1.8 to 16.4%.
smoothfm 95.3 8.8%
Breakfast and overall share both dipped, but not as much as at competitor WSFM, which means smoothfm is #1 FM again – at the same time its sister station in Melbourne also leads the market.
KIIS 1065 8.6%
Strong recovery here – up from 7.3% last survey. All dayparts grew including Kyle and Jackie O, who remain #1 FM breakfast with share up from 10.2% to 10.7%. Will and Woody lifted drive share from 6.9% to 8.4%.
Strange demo moves continue here with share 18-24 down from 13.1% to 5.6%. All dayparts took a hit with Jonesy and Amanda down 2.1 to 7.2%, but they remain #2 FM breakfast.
Nova 96.9 7.9%
The station continues to boast the biggest cume audience – 986,000. Overall share was up 0.4 while breakfast with Fitzy and Wippa was steady on 7.1%. The station’s Achilles heel has been weekdays after 9am, but share jumped 1.3 to 6.7% this survey. Kate, Tim & Marty remain #1 in Sydney drive.
104.1 2Day FM 5.5%
It has been a while since the station out-rated Triple M. A recovery was strongest during the workday with morning up 2.5 to 6.6% and afternoon up 2.2 to 7.8%. Those Billy Joel tracks are working! Breakfast was up 1.0 to 4.6% while Hughesy and Kate were steady in drive on 6.0%.
Triple M 5.3%
Overall not a great result, but The Grill Team was up 0.6 to 6.6% as it plans a replacement for Matty Johns next year.
2CH 1170 4.1%
Overall the station shed half a point while the new breakfast show with Indira and Trevor was up 0.2 to 2.8%.
Sky Sports Radio 0.8%
Hardly any move in any timeslots except for a dip in breakfast where share fell 0.5 to 0.8%.
Macquarie Sports Radio 954 0.6%
Another station where share hardly moved, breakfast was steady on 0.8%, now the same as Sky’s Big Sports Breakfast.
