Biggest movers:
Up: 4KQ + 1.2
Down: Hit 105 -1.2
Nova 106.9 11.7%
Fourth consecutive #1 for the station and Ash, Kip, Luttsy and Susie. Nova has a real break on the rest of the market with its closest competitor 1.2 behind. Solid breakfast performance with share up 0.5 to 11.8% while Kate, Tim and Marty maintained their market-leading drive share of 16.0%. Nova is #1 18-24 and 25-39 plus it grew share 40-54 and 55-64 for good measure.
97.3 FM 10.5%
After a worrying end to 2018, the ARN station is more competitive overall with a drop at Hit this survey. Breakfast still lags though despite share lifting 0.4 to 9.7%. 97.3 breakfast ranks equal #4.
4KQ 10.5%
Outstanding survey for the well programmed music station with a hard-working breakfast show. The station share is the best in many years and only the second time over 10% in over four years. It’s possibly the first time it has been equal with sister station 97.3’s 10+ share. Breakfast with Laurel, Gary and Mark worked some magic, climbing to one of their best-ever numbers of 10.4% and their second time over 10% this year. There’s only one place to go in Brisbane for listeners 55-64 – 4KQ with about 30% of the commercial audience.
104.5 Triple M 10.4%
Slight improvement here although the station still trails recent highs achieved through much of last year and the first two 2019 surveys. Breakfast with Marto, Robyn and Nick Cody lifted 0.8 to 11.4%, close to where it started the year.
Hit 105 9.7%
This is the first time the station has slipped below 10% in a long, long time. Breakfast was down too, dropping 1.3 to 9.7%, the lowest share since survey six, 2017. Daytime and drive listening also dropped over 1.0, while evening was steady on 8.7%. The biggest loss of share was 18-24, down 5.0 to 17.1%.
4BC 7.8%
The station continues to grow with another recent high. Alan Jones, Ray Hadley and Steve Price continue to hold strong shares in the market, with Hadley (+0.1 to 10.6%) and Price (+1.5 to 8.5% in his last evening survey) both up this survey.
Macquarie Sports 882 1.0%
Not quite the format’s best share, but close to it. However not a share that is likely to lead to a successful commercial outcome.
