Inspiring people’s best on A Life of Greatness with Sarah Grynberg
A Life of Greatness with Sarah Grynberg has returned for a seveth season on LiSTNR. In the pod, Grynberg invites listeners to tune in to a series of conversations with thought leaders, well know personalities, and global humanitarians. With the aim to provide simple tools, tips, and strategies brought to light to help live a life beyond limits – towards courage, joy, love, and a more meaningful way of being.
Podcast Week’s Tess Connery spoke to Sarah Grynberg about how far the podcast has come, and what she hope it brings to listeners.
Reflecting on the very beginnings of the podcast, Grynberg says she began her journey as a producer for Hamish and Andy before moving out on her own.
“I was a podcast producer, but also was studying and teaching a lot of personal development to people – about the mind-body connection, how our emotions work, and all those bits and pieces. The more I was getting into that sort of work, the more I thought to myself, why wouldn’t I share my learnings with a wider audience?
“I thought, well, I work at a podcast company, so it’s a great time to put a podcast together! I had this idea of interviewing thought leaders, and different people about their achievements, and I was already connected to people through my own journey in life. So I put this idea together, and it just kind of took off.”
Just over four years down the road, A Life of Greatness is heading into its seventh season, something Grynberg describes as “exciting.”
“The first season was eight episodes, and they were half an hour or 20 minutes. A lot of the audience was writing to me saying ‘you need make the episodes longer, we just would love to have listened for longer’. I thought well, I’ve got to take that feedback on 100%! So now I get to sit with these people for an hour and talk to them, which is just incredible.
“It has changed slightly – little things here and there – but really, the crux of it hasn’t. It has grown a lot in the last year, the numbers speak for themselves.”
Having sat down with guests from all walks of life – including big names like Mark Manson, Matthew McConaughey, John Howard, Spice Girl Mel C, and Esther Perel – Grynberg has learned a thing of two from her conversations. When asked what stands out as one of the biggest thing she’s learned, Grynberg points to the stories of everyday people.
“There’s a theme that’s been coming up a lot in the last year, being your authentic self. I think that’s really, really pertinent because just being your authentic self goes into a lot of aspects of life – one of them is prevention of disease. I’ve talked to a lot of scientists, doctors, and trauma specialists – the best in the world – about this.
“What they were saying is all was the same: when people live their life, and they’re not authentic to who they truly are, these are the people that develop disease in later life. Some of that disease can be fatal.
“When you have palliative care workers sitting at the bed of those that are dying, and they say their biggest regret is that they never lived a life true to themselves, that just has just resonated so much in the interviews recently. I just think it’s a piece of information that everyone needs to hear.”
Ultimately, A Life of Greatness is made for Grynberg’s audience, and she hopes that the podcast will inspire people to live their best lives.
“I do these podcasts not only because I love it so much, but because I want to be in service to those people that I can touch.
“I hope they listen to the leaders and they come away with wisdom, or they listen to the entertainers or people that have struggled and they take something out of that that they can use in their everyday life to make their life greater. The whole idea of the podcast A Life Of Greatness is so that people are able to take out wisdom to live their greatest existence, and with that become a happier person.”

Mark Allen & David Schwarz bring the bants with new podcast Couple of Blokes, Couple of Beers
Couple of Blokes, Couple of Beers is a new weekly podcast hosted by two great mates: Mark ‘Marko’ Allen, and David ‘The Ox’ Schwarz.
Mark Allen played professional golf around the world for 15-years. He has worked at 3AW, Macquarie Sports Radio and SEN for over a decade. As a survivor of Stage 4 bowel cancer, Mark is now a Bowel Cancer Australia Ambassador and public speaker.
David ‘The Ox’ Schwarz is a former AFL star. Many experts regarded him at, or close to, the best forward in the game early in his career with the Melbourne Demons, however his footy career was cut short by three serious knee injuries. A reformed gambling addict, Ox has been off the punt since 2005, and has developed an impressive career in the media and public speaking.
Capturing the irreverence, fun, and rapport of their “Ox & Marko” partnership developed over many years broadcast on radio in multiple states, this new podcast takes their content to a new level and a new audience.

“Less is More”: Shameless Media’s approach to advertising, content and business growth
In 2018, two Melbourne-based journalists with little to no podcasting experience started a reality TV and celebrity news podcast to address a gap in the Australian pop-culture market.
Today, the side-hustle-turned-media company has nine employees, multiple podcasts, 55 million podcast downloads, and over 720,000 social media followers across its network.
Co-founded by Michelle Andrews and Zara McDonald, Shameless Media is a youth media company dedicated to creating content that ‘cuts through a saturated market.’
In January, the company reported their strongest results yet, with 2.35 million listens across its network. Their flagship product, the Shameless Podcast, is described as “the pop culture podcast for smart women who love dumb stuff,” which airs two weekly episodes, along with a monthly book club episode.
Mediaweek spoke to Andrews and McDonald about their advertising ethos, the power of video, and the company’s plans for the future.
According to the 2022 Shameless survey stats, 49% of respondents bought a product advertised across the network in 2022. McDonald says the strong results come down to their core value: content over money.
“The community is constantly at the forefront. So when we’re getting our partnerships, we’re focused on making sure that the ad partnerships serve the listener- if they’re going to be listening to an ad, it has to be an ad that they are interested in,” McDonald said.
