In the last data drop during 2023, the November Podcast Ranker presents a wider snapshot of the audio market than ever before.
The reason for that is ABC has entered its titles for Podcast Raker measurement. To accommodate the new podcast publisher, Triton Digital has expanded the podcast charts from the Top 150 to the Top 200.
There was just enough room for the ABC titles too. There are 33 podcast shows new this month on the chart from the ABC.
The highest-ranked of these is the long-time ABC favourite Conversations with Richard Fidler and Sarah Kanowski.
The highest-ranked debut not from ABC is 7News Headlines, a product of the new relationship between ARN and what is now its largest shareholder, Seven West Media.
Also new this month is Head Game from the Nova podcast network. In each episode, guests tell extraordinary stories of survival, relive heroic moments, and unpack the details of life-changing decisions.
The biggest mover on the Ranker this month was the Shameless Media series Everybody Has a Secret hosted by Annabelle Lee. The series has rocketed into the top 50 at #39, a leap of 95 places.
The new ABC titles haven’t upset the players topping the chart though. LiSTNR’s Hamish & Andy podcast has ranked #1 on the Australian Podcast Ranker for the 23rd time, a record that possibly won’t be broken for a long time.
LiSTNR noted it had 69 podcasts in the Australian Top 200 ranker, more than any other podcast network.
“As the ABC joins the Podcast Ranker for the first time, it’s great to see LiSTNR maintain its publisher position and remain Australia’s biggest podcast Sales Representatives Network,” said SCA executive head LiSTNR Podcasts, Grant Tothill.
“Hamish & Andy being number one again is a remarkable and unrivalled feat, as LiSTNR also releases the fifth season of Hamish & Andy’s Remembering Project.
“It has been a strong year for the LiSTNR team with success in publishing new formats and titles to attract new audiences and offer advertisers more opportunity to reach them.”

ARN’s iHeart boasted it had five of the Top 15 podcasts, more than any other publisher, including The Kyle & Jackie O Show (#1 catch-up and #6 overall), The Imperfects (#1 health & wellness and #7 overall), Life Uncut with Brittany Hockley and Laura Byrne (#1 relationship and #8 overall) and Stuff You Should Know (#1 Knowledge and #13 overall).
ARN’s head of digital audio, Corey Layton, said: “As the Podcast Ranker grows in importance, so has Australia’s engagement with our slate that’s enjoyed by over 75% of Australian Podcast Listeners. I wanted to thank our incredible partners and the iHeart team who continue to capture audience attention to be entertained, educated and to escape.”
Commenting on the arrival of the ABC, head of audio Ben Latimer said: “This is an incredible result for the ABC in our first ranking. It’s exciting to see the range of titles that have performed well from across our podcast slate.
“The ABC is proud to offer such an incredible range of quality podcasts, always free and on demand.”
ABC News Daily was the highest-ranked news and current affairs podcast landing at #9 with the daily podcast pulling 385,000 listeners.
Other ABC titles to make the top 50 are If You’re Listening at #24, ABC SPORT Daily at #28, Dr Karl Podcast at #41 and Late Night Live at #45. The ABC’s newest health podcast What’s That Rash? also landed a spot only a month after its debut ranking at #48.
