Nine is claiming that 9News Sydney has achieved an early victory as news leader in the 2023 ratings year. Across the Monday to Friday 6.00pm hour, Nine claims that the programme has won 21 weeks of the 40-week official ratings calendar, which would put it in an unbeatable position.
It would mark the 13th consecutive year that 9News has taken the ratings crown in Sydney, and the 13th consecutive win for 9News presenter Peter Overton.

Nine has also provided audience figures that include a focus on the digital future. Across live streaming, 9News Sydney is reported to have won every week of the 2023 ratings year, with an average BVOD audience in August of 18,715 per episode, comprising 8% of 9News Sydney’s Total TV audience.
Nine reports that younger Australians are connecting with 9News on social media platforms, and that the programme is Australia’s most engaged news brand across Facebook and Instagram. Vertical video content from the show is watched over 50 million times monthly across TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook. The digital audience of 9News continues to grow on YouTube with 1.22 million subscribers.
