Nine Radio has experienced massive year-on-year growth with an increase of 20%, audio streaming data for January reveals.
Listeners of 2GB, 3AW, 4BC and 6PR have been tuning in via digital devices, demonstrated by a total of 9.328 million streams for the month of January 2022, an increase of 26% on January 2021.
A total of 9.280 million hours of content was streamed – up 24% on the same month last year.
Hayley Bourne, Nine Radio’s head of digital audio, said, “These figures show the increasingly rapid transition to audio streaming as listeners embrace the notion that they can listen to our stations anytime, anywhere and on any device.
“Our vast signed-in digital user base is of enormous value to advertisers who want to target clearly defined audience segments, in highly engaged environments.”
The huge streaming audiences illustrate the accelerating trend for listeners to 2GB, 3AW, 4BC and 6PR to tune in via digital devices – anywhere, anytime on any device.
The cumulative audience of listeners streaming 2GB, 3AW, 4BC and 6PR via digital devices was 1.693 million in January, up a staggering 67% on January 2021.
In September 2021, Nine Radio unveiled the next stage of its digital transformation, highlighting the importance of first-party data as it moves towards a total audio proposition for advertisers.
Speaking at the Nine 2022 Upfront presentation in September 2021, Tom Malone, Nine’s managing director – radio, said, “The era of radio being defined by a dial with AM or FM is long gone,”
“The way we listen to radio is changing and Nine Radio is at the forefront with a unique product which is at the heart of each city our stations serve. Our broadcasters are now available anywhere, anytime, anyhow – through apps and smart speakers. The ubiquity and mobility of radio has never been stronger.”
