Mix 102.3 presenter Erin Phillips joined her friends on The Ali Clarke Breakfast Show on Friday to announce that she and her wife Tracy have welcomed their fourth child named London.
“Four kids, man. Are you sure?” Ali Clarke jokingly asked.
Phillips explained that she and Tracy had always wanted a big family. She said: “I think the hardest part for me in a way, because Tracy gave birth, is to help come up with a name. So London we both loved. My mom was born in London, it’s got a family connection, and it was something a bit different, which Tracy and I loved.”
Clarke shared with listeners that she, along with the breakfast team, knew they were expecting a baby but were “sworn to secrecy” and that she could not believe the secret had not been revealed in that time.
The Mix 102.3 radio host went on to ask Phillips about her children’s – twin sons Blake and Drew and daughter Brooklyn – reactions to their new sibling.
“It’s been a bit tense in the lead up to baby coming because the boys wanted another brother, and Brooklyn was standing her ground saying “no way, I need a sister. You’ve got each other. I’ve got nobody.
“So Brooklyn was pleading and pleading for us for so long to have a go, and obviously we told it ‘look, honey doesn’t work that way we don’t get to pick.’ So when when they got to meet her yesterday, there were a few tears of disappointment,” Phillips shared.
“Brooklyn was very, very happy. Even after the boys realised she was the girl that will fighting over who got the first cuddle. So now they absolutely love her.”
Clarke then jokingly asked where on an AFL team she could see her newborn playing, Phillips laughed: “even though she came a little bit early. She’s eight pound two ounces. So she’s a little nugget, I’m thinking I can inside-mid, you know, a real tough girl. So wherever, wherever she’s needed. We absolutely love her.”
