The market leader now has 54 consecutive surveys as Melbourne’s #1 station. While overall the station result was down ever so slightly, Ross and Russ at breakfast managed to edge higher from 20.1% to 20.8%. Neil Mitchell was a clear market leader in morning on 17.3%. Sharing market leadership with ABC Melbourne in drive was Tom Elliott with both stations on 11.7%. 3AW continues to command over 30% of all listeners 65+, while share 55-64 was up 1.8 to 19.4%.

Best 10+ 10.8% (8.7%)

In a survey of very little movement up or down for the FM stations, Gold managed to hold it market leadership. Also a favourite for a 10th consecutive time was the Christian O’Connell breakfast show with Jack Post and Patrina Jones. Gold also remains #1 FM across the day and in drive. The station maintains leadership over 40-54 and is #1 FM 55-64.

Nova did well holding its audience steady in the circumstances. When you drill into the numbers though a fall in breakfast and drive was offset by a rise in evenings where Smallzy dominates the timeslot. Nova remains #1 18-24 with a bigger lead while a big lift 25-39 lifted the station from #3 to #2 behind only Fox.

Fifi, Fev and Nick saw share steady as they can now claim #2 FM breakfast, overtaking Nova this survey. Afternoon and drive continue to deliver the best shares, both just over 8%. Fox slipped from #2 to #3 18-24 yet remains the leader 25-39.

A good result with the station the only FM brand to lift share, albeit by just 0.1. Breakfast with Mike and Jen was steady on 6.3% with morning, afternoon and drive all edging upwards. smoothfm remains #2 FM 40-54 and 55-64, yet there is a big gap between it and demo leader Gold.

In three surveys the share has tumbled from 6.5% to 4.5% which is now the second-lowest share in at least six years. Cume also took a battering this survey. That’s what happens when you farewell a breakfast team member. PJ out and Lauren Phillips in. As Mediaweek noted yesterday, ARN is now in the breakfast rebuild phase with a new campaign launching for the Jase and Lauren show. Collateral damage across the day was minimal apart from a drive fall of 2.1 to 4.8% where the station now ranks last amongst the FM competition.

Station share has hit a new low as lockdown claims more victims. Also suffering is the new breakfast show with the build of the new Marty Sheargold show needing to wait until presumably recent lockdowns end. Mick Molloy claims the station’s best share again and his drive share of 5.5% was up 0.6. Share 10-17 more than doubled!

RSN 927 0.4% (0.3%)
Cume: 61,000 (+21,000)
A cume lift of 50% was the highlight for the station in its first year back in the GfK surveys. Weekends continue to draw the biggest share, with the audience up from 0.7% to 1.1%.
