MediaWorks has announced the appointment of Wayne Stevenson as its new board chair.
He has been acting as interim chair since August 2021 and joined the board in late 2019.
Stevenson has spent the majority of his executive career in banking and finance with ANZ in both Australia and internationally.
In the last decade since leaving ANZ, he has developed a diverse portfolio of board directorships spanning banking, insurance, payments, technology, sales enablement and media.
Stevenson said of his appointment: “I’m delighted to be confirmed as MediaWorks’ new board chair as the company hits the ground running in 2022. My focus as chair will be to continue the work we have been doing over recent times to improve the company for our audiences, customers, and staff.
“Importantly our renewed vision, purpose and values, together with a range of other initiatives such as Today FM have reset our agenda for the next few years and created a new level of energy and passion within MediaWorks.
“The media industry in New Zealand is at an important inflection point as we do all we can to help the economy recover from the impacts of COVID-19. MediaWorks remains committed to ensuring our customers are able to fully capitalise on this recovery as it occurs,” he added,

MediaWorks reaches millions of Kiwis through its Radio and Outdoor platforms. The company is owned by Oaktree Capital Management and Quadrant Private Capital. The chair of the board is Stevenson and directors are Jonas Mitzsschke, Jonathan Pearce, Louise Bond and Nagaja Sanatkumar.
