The Mediaweek Hot List monthly feature is compiled by Mediaweek contributing editor Greg Graham with the Mediaweek editorial team. This is the fourth Hot List after launching in May 2022.
Mediaweek Hot List: Sizzling HOT
Media agency: OMD
Definitely sizzling hot after winning the NSW Government account rumoured to be around $75 million, retaining Coles’s $100 million, and taking home heaps of Cannes Lions for Suncorp OMD continues its powerhouse performance. Previously on our July list.
Just last month OMD Sydney announced changes to its leadership team with the addition of a ‘head of group’ layer across its entire client base.
Creative Agency: The Special Group
Special constantly delivers exceptional work for Uber with a campaign for the new membership One program with a host of celebrities and another cultural moment with Harold from Neighbours. Plus, really like the good guy/bad bro barber shop activation for Netflix for The Gray Man movie.
The agency has appeared in three of the four Mediaweek Hot Lists.
Mediaweek Hot List: HOTTEST
Media Agency: Initiative
Another impressive global win for Nike and the local operations goes from strength to strength with recent Agency of the Year & Leader of the Year industry awards.
After featuring in the first Mediaweek Hot List in May, Initiative Australia CEO Melissa Fein shared her leadership values with Mediaweek’s Alisha Buaya.
The agency has appeared in three of the four Mediaweek Hot Lists.
Creative Agency: The Monkeys
The creative product continues to be provocative and gets us talking. The new UN Women Australia ‘Humans on Mars before gender equality on earth’ stops us in our tracks and demands action.
The Monkeys, led by Mark Green, made the ‘Sizzling HOT’ list earlier this year. Green co-founded the agency back in 2006 before Accenture Song acquired it in 2019. He too recently spoke with Mediaweek’s Alisha Buaya.
The agency has appeared in three of the four Mediaweek Hot Lists.
Mediaweek Hot List: HOT
Media Agency: Speed
This hot indie is a little under the radar accelerating business growth for smart clients. An impressive client list includes Taco Bell, Carnival Cruises, Betfair, Palmers, Archie Rose, Dulux, Boody, etc. Excellent senior leadership with great talent driving effectiveness with the use of data and analytics.
The Speed Agency was launched in 2016 and was majority owned by Clemenger BBDO and the minority by Ian Perrin.
The agency later became independent, and Perrin welcomed his co-managing partner Duncan Parfitt, formerly COO of Spark Foundry, to the team in 2020.
Perrin talked to Mediaweek’s Alisha Buaya earlier this month.
Creative Agency: Thinkerbell
This hot indie agency is looking to expand into NZ and always delivers work that gets the market talking and creates cultural moments. Plus another run of industry accolades with recent Agency of the Year Awards across several categories. Both Adam & Margie are exception leaders.
Speaking about some recent hires just last month, agency CEO Margie Reid said: “This is a significant time for Thinkerbell. We are five years old and it’s important we have the right systems and processes to consistently deliver Measured Magic and have happy clients.”
The agency appeared in the first Mediaweek Hot List in May.
