Mediaweek has appointed seasoned industry journalist and editor Brittney Rigby as news and features editor as the publication continues to grow.
Rigby previously served as deputy managing editor at Mumbrella and was most recently the national head of communications at DDB Group Australia, an executive leadership position which also saw her sit on the creative agency’s global communications team.
She brings more than 10 years of experience to the role and has contributed to a range of industry titles locally and internationally, in addition to writing regularly for the likes of The Guardian, The Sydney Morning Herald and SBS. She is also qualified as a lawyer.
Rigby will be tasked with managing Mediaweek‘s editorial output and will work closely with Mediaweek‘s editorial team, reporting to group managing editor Danielle Long.
Danielle Long, group managing editor of Mediaweek, said, “Brittney has tonnes of industry knowledge, bucket-loads of experience, and a super-sharp mind brimming with brilliant ideas. She’s the perfect addition to the Mediaweek team, and will help to ensure we can maintain our momentum while continuing to elevate our offering to the market.”
Brittney Rigby, news and features editor of Mediaweek, said, “I’m really happy to be back in a newsroom, especially when it means working alongside Danielle and her team. I can’t wait to roll up my sleeves and get stuck in.”
Rigby’s appointment builds on a sustained period of growth for Mediaweek, which has seen a surge in traffic and subscriptions over the last 12 months. Last month, Mediaweek appointed Ricky Chanana as chief growth director. Chanana will work closely with Mediaweek’s chief revenue director, Andrew Mulready, and publisher, Trent Thomas, to help build on the company’s growth through its partnerships with clients.
His hiring followed a raft of senior leadership team appointments last October with the addition of Long and the promotions of Mediaweek’s general manager and editor, Trent Thomas to managing director and publisher, and chief of staff Sarah Chapman to general manager.
