Mediaweek Academy is set to launch in July with industry expert Greg Graham leading the training and a bumper line-up of Legends and Superstars of the industry.
Over 10 months*, the program will consist of a special blend of interactive elements, Q&A, regular lectures, a feedback loop, and a personalised action plan to implement back in your business after each session.
Superstars of the industry will discuss their insights in their respective specialist areas, as industry legends share their career development wisdom.
The first session of the program leads with Career Growth and Development featuring Superstar, Wavemaker ANZ group strategy director, Rebecca Drummond.
Drummond told Mediaweek that she was excited to be part of the inaugural Mediaweek Academy lesson: “I’m thrilled to take part in the Mediaweek Academy and share how important career development and goal setting is for young talent as they enter into the industry.
“This initiative provides a unique opportunity that bridges the gap between theory and practical experience on a regular basis, and it’s exciting to see industry legends like Sparrow and Steady leading this from the frontline,” she added.

Lara Brownlow, head of agency and channel sales of LinkedIn Marketing Solutions, ANZ, will take to the stage in October for the course on Building your Personal Brand.
Brownlow said she was keen to take part in the program: “When Greg Graham, or as most of us know him ‘Sparrow’, asked if I wanted to be involved in his new Industry Education Program with Mediaweek, I didn’t have to think twice before replying yes.
“With the rapid pace of change in our industry, education for our teams is an absolute imperative and is severely lacking (beyond media owner training and siloed disciplines). I am thrilled to be speaking about the power of building your personal brand.
Founder of Bare Feat, Chloe Hooper, will join the panel on Listening skills later this year and shared that learning and development is an investment that people should take advantage of. “People often make excuses why training isn’t a priority for them that day. But life is all about learning. Take every opportunity you can.
“Trainers need to ensure the content is such a memorable experience that attendees have an experience that changes them. There is a clear valuable exchange for their time. People want to come out thinking or feeling differently to how they did when they joined the session.”
Hooper noted that listening is a valuable and underrated skill a leader can have. “Leadership teams that are listening to their people and genuinely acting on their feedback are the ones who are thriving post the pandemic. People want to be seen and heard – this is the only way they feel truly valued,” she added.
Early next year, Half Dome’s managing partner and digital lead Joe Frazer will speak on join Enthdegree’s Graham Webster for the Pitching to Win topic.
Frazer said he is looking forward to passing on knowledge through managing and leading his agency. “The art of pitching is one of the last great hangovers (in a good way) that advertising has retained from the golden years, and I honestly believe that when done right – pitching is by far the funnest part of the job,” he noted.
“Doing it alongside new business royalty, I just hope that I can instil the same of the same excitement for the craft that I have picked up from Sparrow himself, to the new generation,” he added.
Group client lead at Snap Inc. Danni Hudson, who is set to speak on Partnerships & Collaboration next year, said: “I’m excited to join Sparrow and all the speakers for the Mediaweek Academy in what will be an unmissable opportunity for our young industry talent.
“There aren’t many opportunities to get a front-row seat to get under the hood with some of our most admired and successful industry stalwarts and in an increasingly complex landscape, partnerships and collaboration in our industry have never been so important,” Hudson added.
Tribe founder Jules Lund said: “I’m honoured to be involved in the Mediaweek Academy. Such an incredible line-up of fellow presenters and a great opportunity to share some insights I’ve collected across the globe over the past 12 months.”
Wavemaker’s chief investment officer Philippa Noilea-Tani shared her love for the initiative. She said: “I’ve always felt very supported in my career with robust learning and development opportunities.
“I’m extremely passionate about ensuring the broader industry is provided with the same opportunity to keep their learning curve steep, particularly in such a fast paced and ever evolving media market,” she added.
Jimmy Hyett, founder and CEO of This Is Flow, said: “Within our agency, we see a direct correlation between investing in talent development and the growth of our business, skill set and culture. And this has intensified after the great industry reset over the last two years, with a rejuvenated talent pool that are hungry and inquisitive to grow.
“For us to provide them with another avenue for learning in the Academy, including the calibre of speakers, legends and superstars in this first year’s program, makes it an unmissable course and just another example of how we can deliver richer, more meaningful training and support for every level – from Junior to Senior.
“It’s what keeps our industry at the forefront of business and people growth, and I’m thrilled to be a part of it,” Hyett added.
Additional industry Superstars taking part in the education series include: Duncan McGrath from Google and Adam Ross from Coca Cola.
Graham said he is also looking forward to seeing the Superstars share their industry knowledge at the Mediaweek Academy.
“Once again excited that so many Superstars wanted to be part of the Mediaweek Academy to help and support this new industry educational initiative,” he said.
“The fresh perspective from such a diverse group of Superstars will bring new insights and learnings to all the attendees. The powerful combination of the Legends and Superstars will certainly, deliver unique insights and knowledge.
“I can’t thank them enough and having important conversations around industry issues that matter is priceless. This special experience and engagement with both Legends and Superstars will ensure the Mediaweek Academy delivers true inspiration,” he added.
Graduates from the 10-month Mediaweek Academy course will gain certification ensuring they are the hottest talent for that next new job or promotion opportunity.
