Editors quit: Mark Brandon and Lucy Walker leave Bauer Media

“They have helped to lead and shape both titles, continuing to deliver current and engaging content to their readers.”

After a number of years with Bauer Media, editors Mark Brandon and Lucy Walker have left the business.

Brandon had been the editor of NW magazine for over four years. Under his leadership, the magazine experienced increases in readership, market share and social media engagement. The title was recently named General Interest Magazine Brand of the Year at the Australian Magazine Awards.

Brandon commented, “Leading this amazingly talented and passionate NW team has been a real highlight of my career in publishing. Four consecutive periods of readership growth does not come easy, and it’s truly a credit to the team who put their hearts and souls into the product every week.

“After more than 200 issues, however, the time is right for me to try something new. I look forward to seeing how the team continues to evolve the brand into the future.”

Walker started her publishing career at OK! and after stints on various weekly titles, returned in 2014 as deputy editor and then editor.

She said, “The OK! brand and this team will always hold a special place in my heart. Editing a fast-paced celeb weekly has been a dream role.

“It’s been a joy to create content that our audience loves and engages with every week and to do it with such a talented and spirited team has been a real pleasure.”

Fiona Connolly, editor-in-chief of Bauer’s women’s celebrity entertainment category, said: “We’d like to thank both Mark and Lucy for their contribution to NW and OK! magazines over the years. They have helped to lead and shape both titles, continuing to deliver current and engaging content to their readers. I will take this opportunity to get closer to both magazines and oversee their editorship until appointments have been made.”
