The Kyle and Jackie O Show returned to the airwaves today…but in Sydney only.
The KIIS 106.5 #1 Sydney FM breakfast show is going into Melbourne this year too. But after a confirmation announcement late last week, there is still no launch date.
The reasons for the delay have not been revealed. There are plenty of reasons being speculated about.
There seems to be some agreement that Kyle Sandilands and Jackie Henderson won’t be on air at KIIS 101.1 until after Easter, maybe when GfK Survey 2, 2024 starts in April.
Some have said that parent company ARN wants the show to go into multiple markets after its Sydney stations KIIS 106.5 and WSFM 101.7 move into their new studios. The on-air talent and staff will be making the move from Macquarie Park to North Sydney. The new studios are expected to be ready in the next couple of months.
Another reason doing the rounds includes speculation that ARN wants some clear air between the end of Jase and Lauren and the Sydney Kyle and Jackie breakfast show.
As we reported last year, the former hosts entrusted with the KIIS 101.1 breakfast show were axed despite having a final radio ratings cume audience of 625,000 in breakfast. That was a bigger cume audience than sister station Gold 104.3 and was ranked #2 in Melbourne, behind only the Fox cume audience of 674,000.
Jase and Lauren helped KIIS 101.1 to a station cume audience of 1,225,000.
How to listen to Kyle and Jackie O in Melbourne
People in Melbourne, and anywhere else for that matter, can of course still listen to The Kyle and Jackie O Show. The show can be accessed from the iHeartRadio app, other radio aggregation apps or the KIIS 106.5 website.

Massive cash giveaway for listeners
The Kyle and Jackie O Show has returned amid celebrations for the 10th year of Sydney’s #1 breakfast show at ARN. When the hosts jumped ship from 2Day FM a decade ago they moved to what was (almost) a new radio station. To mark the successful decade, ARN has launched a massive marketing campaign.
Developed in-house, the multi-platform campaign has already gone live across outdoor, digital and social channels. Additionally, a TVC has also been launched, showcasing The Kyle & Jackie O Show’s extraordinary journey.
Lauren Joyce, ARN chief strategy & connections officer, explained: “This campaign is designed to capture the emotion and highlight the incredible journey both KIIS and The Kyle & Jackie O Show have taken over the past decade. It serves as both a visual and emotional celebration of the last ten years and a testament to the exciting next chapter that lies ahead. Get ready to be uplifted, entertained, and KIIS-ed like never before!”
ARN rebranded Mix 106.5 to KIIS 106.5 when Kyle and Jackie O arrived. It was part of a licensing deal with iHeartRadio to use the KIIS brand among other things.
To celebrate the anniversary, the station is having a massive cash giveaway on Friday February 2. All callers who are put to air on the station that day will get $10,000.
In case the station is not broadcasting into Melbourne by then, listeners via the app or online will also have the chance to win.
