Jellysmack has signed fast-emerging Australian Twitch star Whippy to its Creator Program.
Whippy, a major Australian Grand Theft Auto Twitch streamer, is Jellysmack’s first Twitch star whose content will be featured on YouTube globally.
He will also be the first creator to launch across both Facebook and YouTube in a multi-platform deal.
Whippy started as a gamer living in country NSW with his mum before his Twitch character, Dundee, gained notoriety for teaming up with famous Twitch streamers xQc and Sykkuno and his viewership doubled.
The Aussie has streamed Grand Theft Auto for more than 5,300 hours since his channel launched in 2016, but the recent viewing boost has unearthed the gamer’s skills – and financially supported a move into his own home.
Jellysmack Australia and New Zealand country manager, Ezechiel Ritchie, said Whippy’s story demonstrated the transformative power of streaming.
“We are thrilled to welcome Whippy to the Jellysmack Creator Program – he has become one of the breakthrough streamers on the fast-growing Twitch platform and it just shows how these platforms are unearthing new, exciting creator talent.
“We’re confident Jellysmack’s multi-platform creator approach will help Whippy go well beyond Twitch to reach new audiences and create new revenue streams,” Ritchie said.
Whippy said he was excited to partner with Jellysmack on new content offerings.
“Since I was a child, I was always fascinated by video games, but coming from a poor family we could never afford to buy them – but we did have basic internet, just enough to load YouTube videos and that’s when I discovered I could watch other people play video games.
“I learned that not only did I enjoy watching video games, but I enjoyed the people playing video games. In 2010 gaming online was taking off rapidly I decided to make the best of what I had and started to make YouTube videos of my own and it’s been a crazy ride since then,” he said.
“Jellysmack is going to be a big part of building my audience outside of Twitch and growing my content on other platforms like YouTube and Facebook.
“Managing so many platforms and making content specifically for each platform is a lot of time and decision making, so I’m happy to work with the professionals who know a lot more than me and work together to expand my existing audience on other platforms. I’m super excited for it to kick off!” he added.
The signing takes Jellysmack’s collective of Australian and New Zealand creators to 25, following the recent announcement of 12 new ANZ creators, just five months after the company launched in Australia.
The Jellysmack Creator Program leverages the company’s proprietary AI technology and first-party data to help individual video creators grow their audiences across multiple social platforms.
Once a creator joins, Jellysmack uses its suite of tech tools and team of experts to edit, optimise, and distribute videos onto Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, TikTok, and YouTube on behalf of the creator, thereby establishing new revenue streams.
The Creator Program currently has more than 500 of the world’s most influential creators as partners, including megastars PewDiePie, MrBeast, Bailey Sarian, and Nas Daily.
Whippy joins other Australian content creators including HowToBasic, JoshDub, How Ridiculous, Jazza, Mully, Self Sufficient Me, Tannar, Vincenzo’s Plate, Cupcake Savvy Kitchen, SAMMIT, Flying The Nest, EddieVR, Pask Makes, Andy’s Fishing Wild Cook, Cavy Fishing, Shelee Art, Bin Living with Big B, BigstackD Castings, TigerTomato, Gilly Kube, Eystreem, and Kiwi creators Indigo Traveller and Nela Zisser.
