Instagram Australia has announced the launch of Instagram subscriptions in Australia and other countries following a successful test period in the US.
In the coming weeks, eligible creators in Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Spain and the United Kingdom will be able to access to Subscriptions and start earning through support from their fans.
With the new service, creators will be able to develop deeper connections with their most engaged followers and grow their recurring monthly income by giving subscribers access to exclusive content and benefits.
Creators can set a monthly price of their choice, unlock a “subscribe” button on their profile and offer the following benefits:
• Subscriber Posts, Stories, Reels, and Lives: Creators can create reels, posts, and stories just for their subscribers. Share exclusive content, use interactive story stickers or even go live with paying subscribers only.
• Subscriber Highlights: Newest exclusive stories will automatically be saved to a highlight that is only visible to subscribers so they never miss a story.
• Subscriber Broadcast and Social Channels: Creators can give their subscribers special access or information in subscriber-only channels.
• Subscriber Badges: Creators will see a subscriber badge next to comments and messages their subscribers send so they can easily identify and prioritize interacting with them.
Instagram plans to continue rolling out access to the new service globally in the coming months.
This month, Instagram Australia also launched the Shift to Short Report, a guide for brands to understand why consumers love short-form video (SFV).
The report also outlines what makes Reels across Meta’s platforms unique, and contains tips from users about how they want to see brands communicate with them via SFV.
The report found that Aussies watch SFV often, with more than 63% of Australians watching SFV weekly. The research also found that users loved SFV because of the stackable content that allowed them to absorb more information into their viewing, but also provided a strong entertainment value with 86% of users saying they watch SFV to be entertained.
