Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) Australia has announced the appointment of Liz Eades in the newly created role of director of learning and development.
Eades will steer the development, design, and delivery of practice-based education to further close the skills gap in the advertising industry.
Her immediate priorities will include building relationships with tertiary education institutions, shaping bespoke corporate training offerings, working with IAB Talent and Careers Working Group and supporting members with onboarding and training talent.
The announcement comes as IAB Australia continues to ramp up its support for brands and agencies in the areas of talent and training.
Eades brings over two decades of extensive blended experiences across marketing, communications, and academic environments. She has developed practice-based learning programs for Victorian government departments and private enterprises; and has been active for over a decade as an academic at several Melbourne based universities.
Gai Le Roy, CEO of IAB Australia said: “The demand for talent over the last twelve months has seen IAB Australia members and the industry need to attract new people into the industry as well as enhanced training options to continue to upskill our current workforce.
“The appointment of Liz as a senior industry leader with extensive experience in both marketing and academic environments will be a huge benefit to the IAB community. Liz will build on existing IAB talent and training programs as well as develop new initiatives with a range of partners,” Le Roy said.
Eades said of her new role as director of learning and development: “I have admired the work and resources of IAB Australia for many years and am thrilled to be working with the team to support the digital advertising industry.
“This role will enable IAB develop deeper relations with tertiary institutes as well as roll out a range of programs to grow capabilities across the market,” she added.
Late last year IAB Australia established a Talent and Careers Working Group to expand on the work it already undertakes developing industry talent, including a mentorship program, education, community events and promotion of job openings.
The Group is focused on developing people related initiatives including working with tertiary institutes to encourage a broader range of people into the growing digital advertising sector, developing a range of new industry training programs; and introducing support programs for rising talent in the industry who are experiencing rapid promotion.
In February 2022 it launched the IAB Ad Effectiveness Fundamentals online training program, designed to help brand marketers understand the commonly used methodologies, as well as providing an overview of emerging techniques for evaluating advertising.
IAB also recently announced the inaugural Careers Fair which will take place in August 2022 at Advertising Week APAC.
