Nova has announced that Gina Jeffreys, multi-award-winning country singer, will join Dave ‘Rabbit’ Rabbetts as Star 104.5‘s new breakfast team in 2022.
Having been a special guest on Star 104.5’s breakfast show over the past few weeks and co-hosting the Cancer Council’s “Stars of the Central Coast” with Rabbit from 2017, Jeffreys spoke of her excitement to be joining him on air in 2022.
“I’m going to be spending my mornings hanging out with someone who makes me laugh so hard it hurts! Rabbit is the right mix of professional and fun. He’s off the cuff, quick witted, honest and funny. Joining Star 104.5 is not only the laughs, but we also share the same core beliefs – seeing the best in people, admiring kindness, celebrating life and having a positive outlook. What a way to start each day! I’m so excited to be a part of the Star family and can’t wait for 2022.”
Rabbit said of his new co-host, “I’ve completely lost my voice three times in the last few weeks. It was always on the days Jeffreys joined the show. Either I’m allergic to her – or we’re laughing so much it actually hurts! Time will tell….”
Shayne Sinclair, Star 104.5’s program director had an eye on Gina Jeffreys for some time.
“She’s a natural born entertainer, a Central Coast local through and through, and I’m also told she’s a pretty good singer as well! I couldn’t be happier that the stars have aligned (pun intended!) and we’ve been able to bring Gina Jeffreys into the Star 104.5 family. 2022 is shaping up to be an incredible year!”
After bursting on to the music scene in 1991, and opening for Johnny Cash‘s national tour in 1994, Jeffreys quickly became the face of Australian country music. She was the first female in the history of Australian country music to achieve platinum record sales and sell out shows across the nation and has paved the way for the future of women in Australian Country Music.
Almost 30 years after it all began, with countless number one songs and multiple tours, Jeffreys is still wowing crowds on stage and behind the scenes, mentoring and penning chart- topping songs for the next generation.
During lockdown, she has been writing songs with multiple artists, with many of these songs in the top 10. Jeffreys is also supporting upcoming young artists, with new acts Max Jackson and Courtney Keil, on the line-up for Gina and Tania Kernaghan‘s upcoming National Girls Night Out tour. Gina and Tania will also release a new album in 2022.
Dave ‘Rabbit’ Rabbetts has been the host of Star 104.5’s breakfast show since 2015. He first joined Nova 96.9 in 2001 as part of the original line up and hosted several number one shows during his six years with the station. After a six-year stint at SAFM, he returned to Nova 96.9 in 2013 before making the move to the Central Coast to host Star 104.5’s breakfast show in 2015.
