Foxtel and Twitter Australia have partnered to launch a campaign that invites Australians to participate in jury duty as part of the new Foxtel original series, The Twelve.
The 10-part drama series is focused on twelve everyday citizens who have been called for jury duty on a high-profile murder trial, for a woman who stands accused of killing her niece. As the courtroom drama unfolds, it becomes a trial not only for the accused, but for the jury members themselves.
Fans of the show will be able to act as a remote juror for a Tweet trial during the first season of The Twelve. Fans who are part of the jury will be able to review written, visual, & audio evidence, and come to a collective conclusion via a Tweet vote.
How to participate
1. To opt in for jury duty simply, users must like the following tweet:
You’ve been summoned.

Group director of content communications, Jacqui Abbott said, “The Twelve has captured the interest of audiences right around Australia. It’s a gripping story that surfaces the complex lives of the jurors and the bias that brings to the fate of a case.
“We are excited to partner with Twitter to drive a bigger conversation around the series, keep people guessing and summon fans to cast their own verdict.”
Head of sales for Twitter Australia, Jonathan Munschi said, “People turn to Twitter as a second screen to supplement their TV viewing experience, whether it’s getting pumped for an upcoming season of TV series or watching sneak peeks before the next episode airs. For many, Twitter has become a virtual lounge room.
“Through this immersive campaign, Foxtel has tapped into Twitter’s superpowers in allowing fans to experience The Twelve in a whole new way. Today, we’re seeing more and more brands such as Foxtel wanting to reach fans creatively and authentically,” he said.
“The way brands show up on Twitter drives interest, engagement and conversation but most importantly brings about positive business impact.”
The Twelve airs weekly on Tuesdays at 8:30pm on Foxtel’s Fox Showcase channel and is available to stream on-demand.
