Fox Sports has this year been offering aspiring sports journalists in Australia an online training ground via The Crowd: Best on Ground.
The Crowd’s first ever intern, Tom Handley (pictured) from Charles Sturt University, was offered a full-time position at Fox Sports, after he submitted a range of articles to the online platform and spent two weeks in the Fox Sports news room writing editorial for the website.
“Landing an internship at Fox Sports was a dream come true. I’ve always wanted to be a sports journalist and having a national sports website as a platform for my work was unreal.
“I was thrown into the deep end and was required to write multiple stories a day about a range of different sports. The highlight was my article about the Golden State Warriors’ NBA winning streak that went number one on foxsports.com.au on my first day.
“I ended up being offered a position at Fox Sports at the end of the internship. I can’t recommend The Crowd: Best on Ground enough. It offered me a shot at my dream job,” he said.
Best on Ground is an extension of the established Crowd community, an online hub where sports fans debate and discuss all sports.
Members, known as Crowd Correspondents, can submit articles they have written to the online platform, where the esteemed Fox Sports editorial team handpicks the top stories to appear on Australia’s #1 sports website, foxsports.com.au.
