Summer sports trade: Fiveaa signs premiership captain to its football team

• Tredrea is ending an eight-year association with Triple M Adelaide

It might be the middle of summer and the height of the cricket season, but for one radio station the football season never stops.

Adelaide’s Fiveaa has signed Port Adelaide premiership captain, Warren “Tredders” Tredrea, to the Fiveaa football line up in 2019. The move means Tredrea is ending an eight-year association with Triple M Adelaide, which he joined at the end of his playing career in 2010.

There is something of a battle to sign the best former players and commentators in the Adelaide market since the launch of 1629 SEN SA late last year.

Hosting one of the SEN SA shows is former Fiveaa contributor and chief football writer for The Advertiser, Michelangelo Rucci. The new SEN SA drive show, launching in February, will be hosted by Rucci and another former Triple M Adelaide announcer, Kym Dillon.

Tredrea will be calling games for Fiveaa during the 2019 AFL season and will also be joining Fiveaa’s sports show with Stephen Rowe and Mark Bickley for a weekly segment along with other projects on Fiveaa.

“I’m excited to be joining Fiveaa in 2019”, said Tredrea. “I’ve grown up listening to the Fiveaa sports show and I’m lucky to have been given the privilege of joining Rowey & Bicks weekly as well as continuing my love of calling SA footy with the station…I can’t wait to get started.”

Craig Munn, Fiveaa station manager said, “We’re really excited to welcome Warren to the Fiveaa family. His vast football knowledge and experience is going to be a great asset to Fiveaa and we look forward to having him part of the 2019 AFL season and beyond.”
