Filming on season two of Seven’s The Secret Daughter is officially under way.
Jessica Mauboy reprises her Logie-nominated role of Billie Carter, the part-time country pub singer whose life was changed forever after a chance meeting with wealthy city hotelier Jack Norton.
The story picks up after Billie has turned her back on the Nortons (and a record deal) and is left wondering who she is and where she belongs.
Also returning to the popular family drama for Season 2 are Matt Levett (A Place To Call Home, Devil’s Playground), David Field (Catching Milat, No Activity), Rachel Gordon (Winter, The Moodys), Bonnie Sveen (Home and Away), Jared Turner (The Shannara Chronicles, The Almighty Johnsons), Jordan Hare (EMO the Musical), Terry Serio (Janet King) and J.R. Reyne (Neighbours).
They’ll be joined by new cast members including James Sweeny (Molly, Neighbours) and Rachael Maza (Radiance).
The Secret Daughter is a Screentime production for Channel Seven produced with the financial assistance of Screen Australia and Screen NSW.
Season 2 is executive produced by Rory Callaghan for Screentime and Julie McGauran for Seven, with producers Kerrie Mainwaring and Lauren Edwards, and directors Paul Maloney, Geoff Bennett and Catriona McKenzie.
Season 1 of The Secret Daughter was the #2 Australian drama of 2016 (behind Seven’s Wanted), with a combined average audience of 1.645 million viewers.
