ESPN’s main TV channel on the Foxtel platform has detailed how January has been its best month ever as it managed to rank as the most-watched sports channel on the platform. (The combined Fox Sports offering, however, had a bigger audience than the combined ESPN channels.)
This comes after 2016 was ESPN’s biggest year ever with record numbers for the NBA, NFL and baseball play-offs and the World Series.
ESPN also confirmed that Monday’s Super Bowl 51 broadcast in Australia delivered its biggest-ever audience here with male viewers 25-54. ESPN was also the #1 subscription TV network on Monday in all its key demos.
The year has also started well for ESPN with January 2017 its highest ratings month ever with the combined share of ESPN and ESPN2 up 19% YOY. The NFL was the big audience driver in January growth of 11% YOY for the play-off games.
