Former Nine exec Deborah Wright named interim CEO of Newcastle’s 2NURFM

The University of Newcastle’s 2NURFM is preparing to celebrate its 40th year on-air.

The University of Newcastle’s community radio station 2NURFM has named local business leader Deborah Wright as its interim CEO, as it prepares to celebrate its 40th year on-air.

Wright was previously the Director of Regional Strategy at Nine Entertainment Co. and prior to this, CEO and Station Manager for the NBN Television group of companies.

Univeristy of Newcastle Vice-Chancellor Professor Caroline McMillen said: “Ms Wright brings a unique mix of relevant and extensive industry experience, combined with knowledge of 2NURFM and an in-depth understanding of the strategic priorities for the university.

“These qualities, combined with her extensive knowledge, passion and connections with the region and its community, provide the University of Newcastle with a significant opportunity to shape the station for future success.”

Deborah Wright said: “2NURFM, now in its 40th year of broadcasting, is a highly respected community radio station and I feel most privileged to lead and manage the business through its next phase of development, with the support of a most experienced and passionate team,” Ms Wright said.
