• Dawn of Justice adds another $4.59m to its total of $22.72m
The first weekend after Easter has tipped $15.47m into cinema cash registers with the top four movies contributing $12m.
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has added $4.59m to its takings which stand at $22.78m after two weekends and the week in between. Its screen average was $8,354 from 550 screens.
Zootopia had the best weekend in terms of staying power, actually up 1% – $3.16m from 442 screens at an average of $7,168. The Disney movie is close to a total of $15m after three weeks.
My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 has managed to fill cinemas despite some ordinary reviews. It ranks #3 this week with $2.79m with a screen average over $7,000 and a total that will pass $10m this week.
Kung Fu Panda was the fourth of the big earners, taking $1.88m on its third weekend as its total is set to pass $7m this week.
Rounding out the top five was London Calling with $657,000 on its third weekend.
The documentary Sherpa was the best-performing new release. But it opened on just 28 screens, earning $119,000.
Deadpool continues to find a home in the top 10 and the movie’s $42.62m after eight weeks means it could make it to $45m.
