Daryl Karp reappointed as non-executive director of SBS Board

The federal government has reappointed Daryl Karp as non-executive director of the SBS Board for a second five-year term.

SBS has welcomed the reappointment by the Federal Government of Daryl Karp as non-executive director of the SBS Board for a second five-year term.

Karp was appointed to the SBS board in June 2011.

Acting SBS chairman Bulent Hass Dellal AO said: “On behalf of the SBS Board and Executive I am delighted at Daryl’s reappointment. Daryl brings a wealth of experience to the board across broadcasting, the arts and business strategy. She is well-placed to continue to guide SBS through the digital era as we focus on delivering programs and services that speak to the inherent purpose of our Charter obligations to make a positive contribution to the health of Australian society.”

On her reappointment Daryl Karp said: “It is a privilege to be reappointed to the SBS Board. SBS has a unique and valuable role in Australia today and I am delighted to have the opportunity to continue working alongside an esteemed Board of Directors and SBS executives to steer SBS over the next five years. I look forward to being able to continue to contribute to the success of Australia’s most distinctive broadcaster.”

Karp is the director of the Museum of Australian Democracy. She combines extensive experience in broadcast and digital media with a focus on content, strategy and governance. Her previous positions include CEO and Managing Director, Film Australia, Head of Factual Programs (Television) at the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC), and Head of Science and Documentaries/Science and Features at the ABC.  Ms Karp is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
