In news listeners across the state will applaud, one of Queensland’s favourite rising radio stars Bronte Langbroek is set to join Guy “Cliffo” Clifton on Hit Queensland’s Breakfast show from Monday, November 7.
Langbroek takes the microphone from Gabi Elgood, who is moving back to her hometown of Canberra, which is ironically the city that Langbroek is departing to return to her home state.
Langbroek is leaving her afternoon announcer role with Mix 106.3 to take up the Hit Queensland Breakfast announcer role, which is based in Townsville.
After starting in radio in Brisbane on Nova 106.9, and on the Gold Coast on 90.9 Sea FM and 92.5 Triple M, before embarking on the radio tour of duty to gain experience in studios in Griffith, Wagga Wagga, Geelong, and Canberra, Bronte said she has a renewed love and appreciation for her home state.
“I can’t wait to return and defrost in the Queensland sunshine,” she said.
“I’m so looking forward to working alongside someone who has created arguably the most successful statewide Breakfast show in the country. I have a huge amount of respect for Cliffo, and to share a studio with him, and begin a new era for the show is so exciting. Plus waking up every day in North Queensland is a dream!”
Bronte Langbroek’s voice, sense of humour, and natural knack for storytelling runs in the family; her aunt is radio and TV presenter, and author, Kate Langbroek, who she said has been a great source of inspiration in her career.
Langbroek’s new co-host, Guy ‘Cliffo’ Clifton said that given breakfast radio people spend more time with their co-hosts than their partners, he couldn’t think of anyone he would rather sit opposite each morning before the sun rises.
“Bronte is outgoing, intelligent, and just super fun. Pretty much everything I’m not. Teaming up with her is going to be like one of those rare MAFS marriages that actually works,” he said.
Cliffo & Bronte will wake the state on Hit Queensland Breakfast from Townsville to Toowoomba and beyond every weekday from 6 am to 9 am, from Monday, November 7, and on the free LiSTNR app.
