News Corp Australia has appointed Ben Bloomfield (pictured) as the new CEO of Punters.com.au.
The announcement, appropriately, was made on Melbourne Cup day.
Bloomfield is currently Tabcorp’s general manager wagering, technology and media.
Punters.com.au founder and current CEO Luc Pettett has decided to leave the business he built, take some time with family and pursue new goals. He has been instrumental in the recruitment of Bloomfield and will continue to be available to consult with the business.
Bloomfield said: “I’m thrilled to be joining Punters, a business which has a great culture at its centre and the best and brightest staff providing a world class platform with so much potential.”
Pettett said it was a tough decision to leave the business he built but knew in Ben Bloomfield he had found someone who would continue its growth and maintain the high standards members have come to expect from Punters.
“It’s time to hand over but we know Ben will be a terrific fit for Punters and lead our team.
“Punters has been a great source of pride to me but it’s all about the people who have helped build it over the years. It’s been an amazing journey.”
News Corp, which is 100% owner of Punters.com.au, thanked Luc Pettett for his diligence in ensuring a smooth transition.
Executive chairman of News Corp Australasia Michael Miller said: “I congratulate Luc on building a business like Punters and thank him for making sure it is positioned for continued expansion as he departs. His efforts to ensure the incoming CEO Ben Bloomfield matched Punters’ aspirations have been excellent.”
Ben Bloomfield will start his new role in January 2018.
