Full-service agency Awaken has acquired the Visit Newcastle account, rounding out a fiscal year of record client and business growth for the independent agency.
Following a tender from the City of Newcastle, Awaken will lead the media strategy, buying and planning for Visit Newcastle, winning the account through strong strategic thinking and media skills, a Visit Newcastle spokesperson has said.
Kathryn Williams, formerly at KMint has been appointed as the Chief Financial Officer of Awaken. Following an audit of the agency, Williams reported a sizeable growth of 1,825% over the last five years, leading the agency to double its revenue this financial year.
Chris Parker, Awaken founder and CEO, said of the appointment: “ We’re excited to partner with Visit Newcastle with its first campaign to launch this month. It’s humbling to see how our agency has grown in such a short period. Our client base is really a product of our significant investment in our creative division – we’ve built a reputation as an agency that wins awards for its creative campaigns and our ability to successfully blend strategic, media and creative thinking.”
As a full-service independent media agency based in Sydney, Awaken blends strategy and creativity that has seen them add multiple new clients in recent months, including whiskey brand Proper 12, tool provider Husqvarna and McCarroll’s Automotive Group.
Named on the Australian Financial Review’s Fast Starters and Fast 100 list in 2021, Awaken offers an agency that delivers cohesive creative and media strategies, that can “successfully harness global resources, optimise time zone and align with industry partners and authorities to deliver measurable results for clients,” said CFO Kathryn Williams.
With longstanding high profile clients including Angostura Bitters, Bushmills Whiskey, Coates, Kraken Rum, Jose Cuervo, 1800 Tequila, Energizer and Panasonic Australia, Awaken looks to continue to expand its record-breaking strides.
