Australian Idol top 12

Judges Marcia Hines, Kyle Sandilands, and Amy Shark each had a Fast Pass to send an artist directly through.

The final night of Transformation Week delivered standout performances and makeovers as the last four artists secured their places in Australian Idol’s top 12 aired on Seven and 7plus.

Over three nights, contestants performed for a spot in the top 12. Judges Marcia Hines, Kyle Sandilands, and Amy Shark each had a Fast Pass to send an artist directly through.

Judges’ fast passes

Jake Whittaker, 30, put a country spin on The Choirboys’ Run to Paradise, earning Kyle’s Fast Pass. Jake said, “There are so many deserving people tonight. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

Amy Shark used her Fast Pass on 19-year-old WA singer John Van Beek after his performance of James Arthur’s Impossible. She admitted, “I don’t think that was your best performance…but I believe in you.”

Marcia Hines’ Fast Pass went to 21-year-old Victorian William Le Brun for his swing-infused take on Coldplay’s Something Just Like This.

Standout performances secure top 12 spots

Bony Onyango, 25, moved closer to his Idol dream with Ne-Yo’s Closer. The Queenslander, known for using live autotune, impressed Amy Shark, who said, “I take back calling it cheating. This is your sound, your artistry.”

Seventeen-year-old Iilyish Retallick from NSW rocked No Doubt’s Just A Girl. “I want to show Australia a small-town girl can make it,” she said.

WA’s Gisella, 16, transformed from schoolgirl to Idol star with How Am I Supposed to Live Without You. Marcia Hines teared up: “I love that you are here and so damn talented.”

Hannah Waddell, 25, from WA, took Sneaky Sound System’s UFO to another level. Kyle Sandilands said, “Tonight, you became a proper artist. Effortless. You nailed it.”
