ASTRA reveals nominations for industry awards

•  Creative achievers and industry champions celebrated

The Australian subscription television industry is acknowledging outstanding achievements by individuals and channels with the announcement of finalists in the 2016 ASTRA Industry Awards.
The annual awards, which recognise excellence in marketing, advertising and promotion across Australia’s subscription television industry, are open to TV channels, operators, production houses, media, advertising agencies and other creatives.
“The ASTRA Industry Awards acknowledge the creative minds that drive the success of subscription television. They are the people whose imagination makes subscription television bolder and more creative, setting it apart from other forms of television,” says ASTRA CEO Andrew Maiden.
“This year we’ve received some standout nominations, including from young adults in the early years of their television careers. Many are now working in the channels they watched as children, which is a new development as the industry racks up two decades in Australia.”
The awards – in 10 categories for outstanding individual and team achievement – will be determined by leaders from a wide range of creative industries joining subscription television executives on judging panels.
Winners will be announced at an awards event event on Thursday July 28 in Sydney.
Leading the nominations in the team awards is Foxtel with 20 finalists and Fox Sports with 17. BBC Worldwide received nine and Multi Channel Network (MCN) notched up eight. Presto is nominated for the first time.
In the individual awards, 12 men and seven women received nominations for their creative and professional achievement.
