Advertising Associates has appointed Peter Hunter to lead its new Sydney office as it picks up Kia’s digital media services.
Hunter, who joins from Amazon where he was head of APAC Ad Tech Sales, will be tasked with helping to grow the Sydney office of the independent advertising agency as it seeks to expand beyond its Melbourne base.
It comes as the agency expands its long-standing relationship with automotive brand Kia Australia. The agency has recently won the digital services account for the car manufacturer, adding to its existing scope managing the traditional media services account, which it has held for nine years.
The agency will now manage all digital and media services for Kia Australia and continue to work closely across all comms to help grow the Kia brand in Australia.
Brett Carty, managing director of Advertising Associates, said “It’s an exciting time to be involved with such a progressive stable of long-term clients, and adding Peter’s expertise and guidance to the team represents another significant step in bolstering our commitment to delivering a competitive edge for our clients across all media,” he said.
Hunter brings a wealth of industry experience to the independent agency, having held senior media roles across the Asia Pacific region for more than 25 years. His extensive background includes roles such as national head of Business Planning with PHD Australia, managing director of iProspect in Sydney and chief executive officer of iProspect APAC, based in Singapore.
“[Hunter’s] vast experience across all media, data and ad tech brings another powerful layer of progressive thinking across the agency business in this ever-changing digital landscape,” Carty added.
Hunter said, “I’ve admired the work that Advertising Associates has been doing over many years, and the opportunity to apply my skillset at the coalface and lead a new hungry team with an incredible client such as Kia is right up there.
“Add to that a love of everything motoring and they had me at hello,” he added.
