• Faulks takes over the role from interim CEO Julie Flynn in October

The Australian Association of National Advertisers (AANA) has announced the appointment of Josh Faulks as its new chief executive officer.

Faulks takes over the role from interim CEO Julie Flynn in October following an extensive and highly competitive international search process.

Martin Brown, chair of AANA Board, said the Board is very excited about this new appointment. “With strong economic headwinds and media fragmentation accelerating, now more than ever, Australian brands need a strong unified voice,” he said.

“Josh is a proven leader who is extremely well placed to revitalise AANA to be that voice at a particularly challenging and important time for our industry,” Brown added.

Faulks said said he was excited to be taking on the role. “AANA is in great shape and I’m looking forward to building on its strong foundation to cement its role as a powerful advocate and the voice for advertisers in Australia.

“My immediate priorities will be to protect and strengthen the self-regulatory model, to help members build the capabilities of their teams so they can attract and retain talent, and to bring the industry back together post COVID,” he added.

Faulks comes to AANA with a wealth of experience at the highest levels of government and the corporate sector.

The newly appointed CEO joins AANA from KPMG where he was the national lead of the Reputation Advisory business and has worked for over a decade in senior roles for federal cabinet ministers. Josh has also been a senior executive at the ABC, an ASX listed corporation and an industry body.

In welcoming Faulks to AANA, the Board also acknowledged and thanked Flynn for her contribution as interim CEO.

Brown said: “On behalf of the Board, I want to thank Julie for her tireless and effective leadership as interim CEO.”
