• 3AW ends the year #1 on 13.4%, Fox pushes higher with Fifi and Dave to 9.2%
3AW 13.4% The station wasn’t threatened by any other commercial player all year, ending #1, but two points below its year high 10+ share of 15.4% in survey two. Breakfast with Ross and John is down a little of its year high 20.3% in survey seven, to 19.8% in survey eight. The changes to the station’s evening slot with the introduction of Ross Greenwood and Steve Price and a shorter Nightline with Bruce and Phil saw share dip 3.8 to 11.2%.
FOXFM hit 1019 9.7% That name might be a handful, but Dave Cameron departs the Fox with the year’s best 10+ share. Fifi and Dave have carved up the breakfast market, also ending the year with their best – 9.2%. Hamish and Andy also did well, ending their year of returning to radio as the clear market leader on 12.8%. The year ended with a dip 18-24 and a rise 25-39, but Fox remains the clear #1 in both demos.
Gold 8.2% The ARN station has ended the year #2 FM with the final five surveys all over 8% after a year high of 8.7% in survey four. The programmers were right to refresh the breakfast show which remains the station’s weak spot with share of 6.2%. The best Brig and Lehmo had this year was 7.7% in survey four. Gold ends the year #1 40-54 and #1 FM 55-64.
smoothfm 91.5 7.1% Share slipped back a point this survey after recording 8.1% in survey seven. Breakfast was down just over a point this survey to 4.8% after a year high of 6.4% also in survey seven. The station ranks #2 FM behind Gold 40-54 and 55-64.
Nova 100 6.8% The station’s best was survey one with 7.3%. The final survey for the departed Meshel and Tommy breakfast show did 5.3%, down 1.1 making the decision to replace them look like a good one. Nova’s best breakfast was 6.5% in survey one.
KIIS 101.1 6.8% Share recovered a little this survey but was still short of the year’s best of 7.3% in survey four. Breakfast with Matt and Jane is no more, ending on an improved 5.9%, but still well short of their best mid-year on 7.1%. Hughesy and Kate in drive lifted 1.6 this survey to 9.3%. ARN will be looking to Matt and Meshel to compete better in the key demos in 2016.
3MMM 6.7% That station has lost top spot in the FM breakfast battle to their SCA colleagues at the Fox. Eddie McGuire, Mick Molloy and Luke Darcy were close behind Fifi and Dave on 8.8%. Their year best was 9.6% in survey four in a year when they broke above 9% five times. The station’s best 10+ share was 8.6% in survey four.
Magic 4.1% The station edged back above 4%, getting closer to its year-high of 4.4% it recorded in the first two surveys. Breakfast is now John Blackman and Jane Holmes and they ended the year on 3.7%, not far off the station high of 4.0% in surveys two and three.
SEN 3.9% New GM Graham Mott is making a number of changes here starting January. The final survey for the Morning Glory breakfast show was 3.6%, short of the year high of 4.1% in survey three. The best station 10+ share this year was 4.6% in survey three.
