Jones talked about his relationship with the man likely to be Australia's next PM, Tony Abbott, and how he deals with politicians who refuse to directly answer questions. It wasn't all serious though, we also heard about his wardrobe (lots of ties), his fight for a car spot inside the prime Sydney real estate site that is home to the broadcaster, and, best of all, his job offer from Sam Chisholm (Jones v Jones!).

In a fascinating discussion Lee talked to Mediaweek's James Manning and Brenden Wood about how he developed the new series and how it was pitched to Seven executives. Lee told us where he does his best work and spoke frankly about everything from the state of Australian TV drama through to his controversial thoughts on the Australian film industry. Lee called A Place To Call Home his best work, something that his previous 30 years in the business had been working towards. He talked about the plot devices that script executives can drop into a series to give ratings boosts and he talked about his preference for working with a commercial network: "I will never apologise for having an audience".
Lee also spoke about his "happy families" trilogy, talking about who the Rafter family was based on. Lee also gave away a few clues about what might be next from him if Seven gives it the green light.
